Alan Clifton Wells, a resident of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, age 72, peacefully passed away at his home Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Alan was born to Earnest and Mary Wells on March 8, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Georgia, 1965, a B.S. in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management, 1970, an M.B.A. in Finance from Georgia State University, 1974, and a PhD. ABD in Political Science from Georgia State University, 1980. He acquired extensive U.S. Navy training, 1967-1988, which included two combat tours to Vietnam and retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander. Alan was retired from Lockheed, CDC, and commercial real estate and has been an active college professor for over 30 years. He is predeceased by his parents Mary Rowan Wells and Earnest Clifton Wells Jr and his loving wife Helen Cousar Wells. He is survived by his son Alan Bradley Wells (wife Alyssa) of Brunswick, Georgia, his sister Mary Ellen Cates (husband Jim) of Atlanta, Georgia, brother-in-law John Cousar, MD (wife Leslie) of Charlottesville, Virginia and nieces Anna Cousar Mechem (husband Tyler) and Lauren Cousar Downie (husband Rob). Alan had a great love of animals cats in particular, Fluffy, Scooter and Arie. The family will receive friends Monday, February 15, 2016 from 10-12 Noon Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4407 Highway 17 North, Brunswick, Georgia. A service celebrating his life well lived will take place on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Oglethorpe Memorial Garden, 5775 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island,
