Obituary

On Sunday, December 25, 2022, Albert J. Sanchez, proud father, and grandpa, passed away peacefully at

Nursecare of Buckhead after a hard-fought battle with chronic medical conditions at the age of 74.

Albert was born on July 14, 1948, to Delfina and Nestor Sanchez in Belen New Mexico. After graduating

from Belen High School, he enlisted in the Army. His initial training was at Fort Gordon where he

specialized as an avionic mechanic. After spending one year in Vietnam, he was stationed at Fort

Stewart for his final assignment. During this assignment, he was introduced to Janice Davis whom he

later married and had two children, Melissa Fassel and Adam Sanchez.

Albert worked several years with the Georgia Department of Transportation where he inspected many

road and bridge projects. He was most proud of his work on the F. J. Torras Causeway. After retiring in

1998, he relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he enjoyed spending time with family, the

Sandia Peak, authentic New Mexican food, and the casinos. In 2020, he returned to Georgia to be closer

to his children and grandchildren.

Albert was survived by his two children Melissa (Jeff) Fassel and Adam (Allison) Sanchez; grandchildren

Dallas Seymour, Nicholas Seymour (Dawn Peacock), Sydney Fassel (Amarlo Herrera), Bailey Fassel,
