Albert V. Smith, 91, died Monday, June 19, 2017 surrounded by family. A native of Hamlet, NC, Albert served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from CSX after thirty-six years of service. At the age of 82, he completed the construction of the last of many homes that he built from the ground up. Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Betty Smith; a daughter, Kimberly Thompson (TJ); a grandson, Canon Thompson; sisters, Jean Long and Geneva McVae; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral will be at 11:00 June 23, 2017 at Christian Renewal Church, Brunswick. Burial will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
