Alice Gay Ridge Floyd (May 27, 1943 - June 25, 2018) went home to be with her lord and savior Jesus. Surrounded by her loving family. Gay was known by many names; my darling, momma, mamaw, and Aunt Gay by everyone who knew her.
Gay led a very active life with family, church, work and shopping. Family and friends were Gay's passion and delight. Everyday was a celebration at the Floyd house. She was a Sunday School teacher for every youth age, RA leader, and Cub Scout den mother. Gay shared her smile while working as a secretary of the local carpenters union and 19 years with United Community Bank. She always made sure her hair was done with a Diet Pepsi in hand and was ready for a shopping spree.
She hosted many events over the years, but the most memorable was her Christmas Eve dinners. Gay was known for taking in stray animals and cooking - especially her homemade desserts. No one went away from Gay's home hungry. She spent family vacations in Gatlinburg, TN, where she made many fond memories.
In 1965, Gay married the love of her life W.B. "Buddy" Floyd. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband Buddy Floyd, her sons Steven (Jennifer) Floyd, Brad (MaryAnn) Floyd, her grandchildren Jessica, Justin, and Alex Floyd, and her great-granddaughter Rainbow. Her sisters: Brenda "my older little sister" R. Gilley, Milton FL. and her identical twin Bobbie Kay (Steve) Hall, Hollywood, MD. Nephews and niece: Eddy, Keith, Danny Gilley, Kevin Hall, Dana Kay (Hall) Goldstein and their families, and adopted nieces Heather and Shannon.Only surviving Aunt Juanita Best Cagle, who she loved very dearly from Maryville, TN. Several grand nephews and nieces and her adopted "sisters" Gerda, Debbie, Debra, Pauline and Ajita."
