Alowene Paulk Davidson, age 93, passed away quietly on December 16, 2012 and went to be with her Lord. She was a resident of The Cottages at Brushy Creek in Greer, SC. Alowene was born on April 26, 1919 to Micajah and Mary Jane Paulk in Willacoochee, GA. Upon completion of high school, she attended Berry College in Rome, GA where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Shortly after marrying, she and her husband moved to Brunswick, GA where she worked for Georgia Coastal Federal Credit Union (formerly Hercules Federal Credit Union) for 32 years. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was manager of the credit union for a number of years. In 2005 she moved to Greer, SC to be closer to her family. She is pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 56 years, Luther Sheral 'Dave' Davidson; three sisters, Narcis (Johnny) Goodman, Edna (Ralph) Ray, Betty (Charlie) Smith; and two brothers, Acy Paulk and Lacy Paulk. She is also pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Rachael Painchaud. She is survived by her two children, David (Carolyn) Davidson of Greer, SC and Janis (Norm) Painchaud of Vestal, NY; three grandchildren, Mark (Susan) Davidson, Steve (Audra) Davidson, Paul Painchaud, and four great grandchildren. Alowene had a close and personal relationship with God. She was a devout Christian who quietly lived her faith. She was a member of Norwich Street Baptist Church in Brunswick, GA and then later of Calvary Baptist Church, also in Brunswick. For many years, she taught Sunday School, touching the lives of many young teens and adults alike. The deepest and strongest legacy she leaves behind is the love of God that she instilled in her husband and children. Family was everything to her and God was first in her life. Services will be held in the chapel at Brunswick Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia on December 20, 2012 at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Peter Vivenzio officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service that same morning between 10:00 & 11:00am at the chapel. Entombment will be in Brunswick Memorial Park Mausoleum.
