Obituary

In the twilight of Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Andria Ann-Marie Banks was welcomed by her Heavenly father. Ann, as she was affectionately known, was born in Unity District, St. Andrew, Jamaica to her parents, Leslie and Isolyn Banks. She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, after which she earned her teaching diploma from St. Joseph's Teachers College. She later became an alumna of Western Carolina University and Walden University. For over 15 years, Ann crafted her trade as a teacher beyond compare, at Shortwood Practising Primary & Infant School, where she was a lead teacher and coordinator of the tuck shop. She immigrated to the United States in 2006, where she briefly settled in Greensboro, North Carolina, before relocating to Ridgeland, South Carolina. Over the past 10 years, Ann was an exemplary elementary school teacher to the students of Jasper County School District. If "a measure of a life is its service," Ann's life, both in and out of the classroom, is immeasurable. Ann truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, watching her favorite shows, and spending time with "her tribe." Ann had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, and her light will continue to burn brightly in the many lives she has touched across the world. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Isolyn; sister, Lynette; and nephew, Michael. Left to cherish the memories of Ann are her devoted son, Osano; her siblings, Maxine, Ewart, and Celine; nieces, Arlene, Sherrise, and Sherzine; and nephews, Sheldon and Andrew. Ann will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2020, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia at 3PM, with Pastor Maybin officiating. Due to COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing. Face masks are required at the service, and guests are limited to a total of 45 friends and family. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. We ask that any memorial gifts be donated to Kingdom Seekers Family Worship Center in Bluffton, South Carolina. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and gifts, during this difficult time.
