IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Jones
Fendig
October 18, 1936 – August 25, 2024
Ann Jones Fendig, 87, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on August 25, 2024. She was born on October 18, 1936, to the late Alton Anderson and Lois Fortson Jones in Elberton, Georgia.
Ann first moved to Brunswick in 1942 at the beginning of the war so that her father could work in the shipyard. After a brief return to Elberton in 1945, Ann made Brunswick her home in 1947, where she graduated from Glynn Academy. After graduation, Ann went on to study nursing at the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in Atlanta. She led a long career in healthcare, having spent time working for Dr. Barker in St. Marys, Georgia, and at the St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia.
Ann was a member of the Presbytery at Skidaway Community Church, where she remained a member until her passing. Previously, she was a member of St Mary's Presbyterian Church, and was an active participant in the beginnings of Grace Presbyterian Church in Panama City, Florida.
Ann is remembered for her love of the color red, being an active tennis player, and her love of the outdoors. In her free time, she enjoyed completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, caring for her plants, and preparing delicious homemade meals. Ann was talented at sewing and hemming clothes, taking care of many of the repairs needed by other members of the family, and was able to recreate and hand-sew designs she had seen in magazines in her youth.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Anderson and Lois Fortson Jones; as well as her husband, James Gowen Fendig, whom she married on December 21, 1957.
She is survived by her son, Mark A. Fendig (Donna); her daughter, Pam A. Fendig Goode; grandsons, Brooks A. Goode and Roman D. Goode; her brother, John A. Jones; brother-in-law, Albert Fendig, Jr. (Joyce); as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews!
The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to Home Life, Visiting Angels, and Coastal Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to Mrs. Fendig.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charitable organization of choice.
A visitation will be held at Christ Church on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM followed by a graveside funeral service at 2:00 officiated by the Reverend Jim Crandall.
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to have assisted the Fendig family.
