Anne Ruth Thompson, 86, of Brunswick died Monday, April 9, 2012, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Mrs. Thompson was born in Pearson GA. on July 21, 1925 and graduated from Pearson High School. She moved to Brunswick in 1958, and attended Perry Business School as a young adult. She and her husband owned and operated Thompson's Grocery from 1960-1990. Mrs. Thompson worked part time at the Brunswick Junior College Book Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thompson loved the south, was a seamstress and an avid gardener. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd E. Thompson, Jr. and a granddaughter, Jessica Anne Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lloyd E. Thompson, Sr. of Brunswick; one son, Wayne Thompson (Claire) of Waynesville; one daughter, Dianne Thompson Harris of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson (Roger), William "Billy" Knox and Lloyd E. Thompson III (Kara); three great grandchildren, Joshua Lloyd Anderson, Hannah Anne Anderson and Parker William Knox, and several nieces and nephews Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home at Brunswick Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Baker and Rev. Jim McIlgrath officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Thompson, William Knox, Roger Anderson, Ryan Anderson, William Green, Rees Carroll and Allen Whittington.
