Bryan Arick Stophel, Jr., 17 years old, passed away Tuesday morning, February 2, 2021, at his mother's home in Brantley County. His mother, Amy McIntyre Newton, gave birth to Arick on December 2, 2003, in Brunswick. His grandparents, Danny and Delrita McIntyre, were privileged to help in his upbringing. His siblings, Austin Hicks, Haley McIntyre, and Jonathon Newton; stepfather, Terry Newton; great grandmother, Loretta McCall; aunts and uncles, Danny McIntyre (Candace), Andy McIntyre, Jennifer Powell (Ricky), Jeremy McIntyre (Jennifer), and Holly McIntyre; and 17 cousins are part of a large family who loved him. His extended family includes his father, Bryan Stophel (Sue Ellen); and Bradley Stophel (Brooke), Grammy Celia Stophel, Brett Stophel, and Belinda Hobdy. There were highs and lows in Arick's life. He survived Glioma Brain Cancer as a child after being treated with Proton Therapy in Jacksonville, FL. More recently, he was devastated by the death of his Papa Danny. It was not secret that he was Papa's boy (Wart). Arick just loved to be with him - fixing a motor, woodworking, fishing, gardening, or just listening to his Papa's stories. Arick loved Jesus. He was a lifelong member of Glyndale Baptist Church and occasionally visited Bay Harbour Church of God with friends. He was also a Cub Scout in Pack 224. All of life's lessons carried over into making Arick a friendly, caring, and thoughtful young man with a servant's heart. He was a creative and inventive problem solver. His family is grateful to all who enriched his life. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 2 pm at Glyndale Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00. Pastor Ken Creekmore and Pastor Ben Campbell will lead the celebration. All visitors are asked to observe COVID etiquette.
