Berta Ruth Walker Purvis, 86, went to be with our Lord Jesus on December 5, 2012. She was born on January 1, 1926 in Lumber City, Georgia. She resided 21 years in Jesup, Georgia before coming to Brunswick. She was a member of Golden Isles Church of God. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Lamar Purvis; son, Jimmy Allen Purvis; and infant son, Lamar Eugene Purvis. Survivors are a brother, Olin Walker of Bonaire, GA.; sons, Steve Randal Purvis of Jesup, GA., Perry Gene Purvis of Waverly, GA., and Lamar Jarrell Purvis of Brunswick, GA.; Daughters, Linda Nell McNeal and Teresa Purvis Jones, both of Brunswick, GA.; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Family will receive friends Friday, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tyler McNeal, Alex McNeal, Stevie Purvis, Michael Karwacki, Sean Purvis and Michael Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kermit Buie, Howard Buie, Timmy Buie, Bruce Buie and Dale Buie.
