Betty Marie Kennedy, age 93, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away at Hospice of the Golden Isles where she received her celestial discharge from this world into the presence of God on January 13, 2025.

Betty was born August 23, 1931, in Atkinson County, Georgia. She was a very proud graduate of Glynn Academy and enjoyed eating lunch with many of her classmates.

Betty is survived by her sister, Jeanette K. Thrower; nieces, Linda Walker (Tom), Wanda Jordan (Jim), Brenda Parker Neal (Tom); and her nephew, Michael Thrower (Dawn). Betty treasured her family and we are blessed to have been a part of her life.

Betty retired as Vice President and Trust Operations Officer for American National Bank in Brunswick. Betty was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Brunswick. Betty's life was filled with music, along with her love of singing. She was blessed with the gift of singing and shared this gift over the course of her life. One of her favorite songs was "Serenading with Angels." The lyrics of this song best describe Betty;

"She went to sleep one night, Never to wake again, But everything was all right between her and Him. She awoke in Heaven's courtyard free from pain within, The angels gathered around her and took her by the hand, Serenaded by angels, up to the throne, Serenaded by angels, finally at home, Surrounded by praises to the King, Welcome to Paradise, the angels did sing."

Betty was much loved and respected by her church family and friends at Pine Ridge Baptist Church and her community. Betty leaves behind a remarkable legacy and Pine Ridge Baptist Church will always be influenced by her love for the Lord and His church.

The family would like to offer our sincere gratitude to Lapeka Johnson, who faithfully provided love and care to Betty, especially in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Pine Ridge Baptist Church or Hospice of the Golden Isles.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
