Bobby Joe Harber, 75, of Brunswick, GA entered eternal rest on Friday, July 14, 2017. He passed at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness.
He was a native of Brownsville, Tennessee, and son of Percy and Esther Harber. He graduated from Haywood High School in 1959. Upon graduation he entered the US Army as a radio teletype operator. He was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia where he met the love of his life, Callie. After a two-year tour in Germany he returned to Georgia and he and Callie were married. In 1963, their only child, Lisa, was born.
His occupations throughout the years included auto mechanic and a self-employed church organ repair technician under the business name of Harber' s Organ Service. As a mechanic he was very talented and was sought after by many auto dealers to be a part of their service team and was very well known throughout Augusta, Georgia as a being the best at what he did. His occupation as an organ technician was truly his dream job. He was able to travel with his wife by his side for 35 years to many different towns and states to service organs. Together they met many wonderful people and earned a reputation not only as an outstanding organ service team, but as people who truly cared about those they met and helped.
His hobbies were fishing, reading, and watching the Atlanta Braves with his wife. He was a proud grandfather of three and great grandfather of one.
He is survived by his wife, Callie Harber, of Brunswick, GA; his daughter Lisa (Peter) Lamos of Brunswick, GA; his three grandchildren, Raven (Craig) Allen of Brunswick, GA; Nicholas (Charlsie) Lamos of Easley, South Carolina; Ashley Lamos of Nicholson, Georgia; his great granddaughter Harper Dixon of Brunswick, GA; three brothers Charles Harber of Jackson, Tennessee; Danny Harber of Bell, California; and Billy Harber of North, South Carolina; as well as his loving brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Augusta, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Brunswick Memorial Gardens on Hwy 17 in Brunswick, Georgia, with Pastor Peter Lamos officiating.
