Obituary

Carolyn Ann Anglin Herrin, 69, a resident of Brunswick, Georgia, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at her home in Peppertree Crossing. Mrs. Herrin was born March 5, 1939 in Norman Park, GA to the late Clara Belle Williams of Social Circle, GA. and George Samuel Anglin, Jr. of Jasper, GA. She was raised in Brunswick and graduated from Glynn Academy in 1957. Mrs. Herrin married the love of her life, James Heyward Herrin, Sr. on November 22, 1958. Carolyn and Heyward raised their family in Vidalia and Hazlehurst, GA. after living in Atlanta for a short time. During her life in Hazlehurst, she worked for 26 yrs as an executive secretary at Cook & Co. and after Heyward's death Carolyn returned to Brunswick in July 2002 where she lived and worked as a real estate agent for Peppertree Crossing until her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brunswick. Mrs. Herrin is survived by her two children, James H. Herrin, Jr. and Daniel (Dan) L. Herrin, and by Tracy L. Gilbert, whom she loved like a son; and by Susan Smith, Monty Smith and Jan Smith, children of her sister Linda, whom she and Heyward raised in their home as their own. She is preceded by her late sister Peggy A. Parks and survived by her sister Mildred and her husband BP Harris of Saint Simons Island, her brother Robert Lanier Anglin and wife Mary of Jesup, and by her sister Linda Smith. She is also survived by four grandchildren and other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Herrin and her family request that donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles in lieu of flowers.
