Cecil E. Self, Sr., 81, of Centre, Alabama, and formerly of Brunswick, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Brunswick, Mr. Self moved to Alabama in 2000. He was retired having worked for the Glynco Fire Department. He was a Brickmason contractor for many years and a member of the Alee Temple and Ocean Lodge 214 for 50 years. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Taylors Methodist Church. He was also a WWII veteran having served in the South Pacific in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Self of Centre, AL; a daughter, Nicki Bolin of Darien; two sons, Hardy Self of Nahunta and Cecil E. Self, Jr. of Harrisville, NH; one brother, William Self of Jacksonville, FL; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are: Gene Self, Toby Self, Leo Owens, Jimmy Durrance, Ritchie Self and Billy Boyd. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jimmy Dixon, the Shriners of Ocean Lodge 214, and members of the Alee Temple. Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
