IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene Nicholson Rush
Westberry
June 22, 1945 – October 12, 2024
Charlene Nicholson Rush Westberry, 79, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Charlene was born on June 22, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi, where she spent her early childhood years. She later moved to Brunswick, Georgia, where she would go on to serve the community in various roles.
Charlene, known to her family and those who loved her as Chollie, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who cherished her family more than anything. For many years, she worked for the Brunswick Police Department as the first female police officer in Glynn County and in several doctor's offices, where her compassionate nature and strong work ethic made her an invaluable asset.
Outside of her professional life, in 1980, Charlene was named the Spring Feista's first Mother of the Year. Charlene was an active member of the Brunswick Elk's Axillary and served as a past State President of the Elks Aidmoore Axillary, where she dedicated her time and energy to supporting the organization and its community. Charlene's kindness, compassion, and caring spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann Nicholson; as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ed Glidewell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36, years, Larry; her children, Chuck Rush, Michael Rush, Brian Rush, Brian Westberry (Jill), and Stacy Calbreath (Michael); grandchildren, John, Jones, Craig, Courtney, Karissa (Joe), Anthony, and Miranda; great-grandson, Rory James; siblings, Mary Goodwin (Emmett), Connie Amerson (Oscar), Charles Nicholson, Jr. (Valerie), Loretta Nicholson, and Frederick Nicholson (Elizabeth); as well as a large extended family of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Chollie's infectious smile and joyful laughter, generous heart and unwavering faith will remain an inspiration to all whose lives she impacted.
A memorial service celebrating Charlene's life will be held on 10/19/2024 at 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Elks Aidmoore INC. in Charlene's memory.
