Charles "Chuck" Clinton Leath, Sr., of Brunswick was born March 5, 1931 and passed away January 19, 2009, at his residence. Chuck was raised on a farm in Franklin, Kentucky, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949, and was honorably discharged in January 1955, as a commissioned officer with a rank of 2nd lieutenant. He joined Southern Bell in 1955, working outside plant, as a lineman. He was a member of the C.W.A., serving as President of the C.W.A. Local Union 3209. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers. He retired from BellSouth in January 1993, after 37 ½ years of service. Chuck became and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, when starting his sobriety in October 1978. He achieved 30 years of sobriety while helping others in the AA community. Chuck asked to be remembered as someone who always wanted to help others. He loved being outdoors and was a member of the Master Gardeners of Georgia and Glynn County. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Margaret Lucille Leath, and is survived by brothers; Paul Wayne Leath, Howser Ray Leath, and Fred Douglas Leath; a sister, Betty Lou Leath Ellis; son, Charles C. Leath, Jr.; stepchildren, David B. Steele, Sunny Barrett Steele, and Daniel W. Steele; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Alco Service Club, 1521 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Brunswick, GA 31520.
