Charles A. 'Nick' Nicholson, Sr., 84, of Blythe Island, died Tuesday at his residence. Mr. Nicholson moved to Glynn County in 1961 from Biloxi, Mississippi, and lived on St. Simons Island, which he loved, until moving to Blythe Island in 1994. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. While serving in Korea and World War II, Mr. Nicholson was a U.S. Air Force Pilot, flying the C1-19 Boxcar Aircraft. He was an air traffic controller at Malcom McKinnon Airport for 17 years, until retirement. Mr. Nicholson was a member of the Elks Lodge #691, and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. After retirement, he continued to love flying, as well as camping and fishing. He never met a stranger because of his love for all people.
