Obituary

Charles E. Shoop, Sr., passed away on the evening of May 7th while under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles with his son Jason by his side after a period of declining health due to his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Charles was the only child of Mary E. Wright and was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Charles was previously married to Patricia Shoop (nee McFadden) and together they had 4 sons. Charles, Kevin, Jason, and Corey.

After High School Charles served in the U.S. Navy Seabees and while stationed in Port Hueneme California fell in love with the area. Charles served multiple tours in Vietnam as a member of MCB 9, where he made lifelong friendships with his fellow Seabees. When his service was over, he spent his entire career in the commercial construction industry before retiring in 2009. Charles was a huge dog lover and at the time of his passing had 3 dogs, 2 rescue Siberian Huskies named Maddison and Aries as well as his late son Corey's dog Dillon.

Charles had a special bond with his fellow Seabees, and they had yearly Southern California reunion that he looked forward to. As soon as one was over, he was planning the next one. Charles leaves behind his special Seabee friends John Herbert and wife Sandi of Chico, CA, Gary Hardy and wife Linda of Somis, CA, Mike Certo and wife Carol of Oxnard, CA and John Grosser and wife Lorraine of Tuckerton, NJ.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother Mary E. Wright and youngest son Corey Michael Shoop. He leaves behind his 3 oldest sons Charles Edward Shoop Jr. of Maryland, Kevin Thomas Shoop of Maryland and Jason Shoop of Georgia. He also leaves behind a special friendship with Ann and Tom Evans of Coatesville, PA formed over a love of Siberian Huskies.

His son Jason would like to thank all of Charles medical professionals, with a special thank you to his VA doctor, Dr. Jimmerson, Dr. Shark his Nephrologist, Dr. Powell his Cardiologist as well as Hospice of the Golden Isles for their care.
