Charlie Highsmith (Charles Henry), 46, of Blythe Island died Friday, December 22 at his residence. He was a native and life-long resident of Brunswick and was employed as a carpenter. In his youth, he had been a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow, and Pilthalaka Lodge. He is survived by his parents, Robert C. Highsmith and Dorothy Peeples Highsmith, of Blythe Island; a sister, Susan Highsmith of Waverly; two brothers, Louis E. Highsmith (Stephanie) of Blythe Island, and Phillip D. Highsmith (Sharon) of Brunswick; nieces, Mandy Highsmith of Brunswick and Brooke Highsmith of Blythe Island; nephews, David Highsmith of Brunswick and Nathan Highsmith of Blythe Island; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 2-3 pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28 at 3 pm, following visitation, in the Chapel of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Tim Ellis, Brad Wetzel, Ricky Morris, David Pirkle, Jonathan True, and Rudy Scott Peeples. Honorary pallbearers are: Merritt Curtis, Eddy Peeples, John Highsmith, Cal Highsmith, Danny Farmer, Frank Faircloth, Jr., Mike Faircloth, Joe Cooler and Carol Smith. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
