Daniel Brown Benton, III, age 80, of Brunswick and formerly Lithia Springs, Ga., passed away October 25, 2022. Dan was born to Daniel & AraLou Benton of the Atlanta area and he graduated from South Cobb High School. After graduation, Dan joined the Air Force and spent 4 years serving his country. While in the service, Dan was stationed at Selfridge AFB in Michigan. It was there he met his first wife and had three children.
Dan was employed by Sears Roebuck as a Service Technician and stayed in Michigan until 1989. Dan divorced in 1984 and had met his future wife, Patricia "Pat" whom he married in 1989. They decided to move back to Dan's home in Georgia as he got a transfer through Sears. They settled in Lithia Springs, Ga. Dan decided to retire from Sears in 1994 and did odd jobs till Pat retired in 1997 and they decided to move to Brunswick, Ga. Dan loved bass fishing and with his long time high school friend they would fish several tournaments. Dan also did competitive sporting clays, cowboy and silhouette shooting and belonged to the local Coastal Georgia Gun Club where he would help in teaching women on how to shoot shotguns with their women on Target Lessons semi-annually.
Dan loved people and there wasn't a stranger he never met. Dan was gregarious and made friends easily. He was a beloved husband, a father, grandfather and wonderful friend.
Dan is survived by his wife, Pat, sons: Craig of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Keith (Wife Rachel) of Haslett, Michigan, several grandchildren, 2 nephews, cousins, an aunt and many friends.
