David Carlton Jones, 83, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on October 13, 2024. Born on January 24, 1941, as the oldest son of Lorene and James Jones, David was a current resident of Brunswick.

A graduate of Glynn Academy's class of 1959, David attended North Georgia College before transferring to the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. He went on to earn a Master's degree from Mississippi State University. David served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, David dedicated himself and much of his career to serving Georgia's farmers and agri-business community as an entomologist working for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.

Outside of his work, David could often be found gardening and landscaping. He found enjoyment in coin collecting as a teenager, a hobby that he continued into his retirement years. He was an avid film buff, antique enthusiast, and dog-lover.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lorene and James Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jeff (Beth) and Jennifer (Jack); grandchildren, Taylor, Madeline (W.C.), Ansley, Jack, Cate, and Emma; brothers, Alan (Diane) and Greg; as well as his former wife, Carolyn.

David is remembered as a hard-working, patriotic, generous, and tender-hearted man who will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
