David Louis Kent

David Louis Kent, 74, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

David was born December 1, 1951, to Harold and Ruth Kent of Brunswick, Georgia. He lived in Brunswick his whole life and graduated from Glynn Academy in 1969, following a very successful high school football career, and went on to attend Gorden Military College.

He returned to Brunswick to have a career of 35 plus years at CSX as a railroad conductor. David became a pillar of the community. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Glynn Academy athletic program alumni, and Class of 69 class sponsor.

David was a man of God and a devoted husband of 38 years to Brenda B. Kent, with whom he adopted their son, Daniel L. Kent. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He bled red and black and never missed a Bulldog’s game! He was amazing husband, brother, father, friend, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his wife, parents, and little brother, Allen Kent.

David is survived by his children, David Franklin Kent, Aimee Kent Goodrich, Allen Carl Kent, II, and Daniel L. Kent; his first wife, Debra; brother, James Kent; sister, Linda Kretzschmar; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church Brunswick. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
