Donald Gene Russell, 77, of Brunswick, GA, was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 27, 2022. He bravely fought the ravages of Parkinson's Disease for the past year. He was born April 9, 1945 to Stanley Yates Russell and Esther Cunningham Russell in Washington, DC. He grew up in Alexandra, VA. Don worked 51 years for the US government. He retired as Captain in the US Park Police, then was a FLETC instructor for 35 years. He earned a BS from Brenau University and MA from Trinity. He loved studying the Bible and high speed performance cars. Survivors include his wife, Marybeth Cline Russell; sister, Janet Jefferson; sister-in-law, Jean Russell; grandsons, Jordan and Joshua Russell; and stepson, James Meade. Also surviving are numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley Russell, Jr.; and son, Scott Marshall Russell. At his request, no funeral services will be held at this time. An interment service will be held later in North Carolina. Any memorials may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
