Dora J. Stutts Lane, affectionately known as “Nannie”, passed away at the age of 81, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at home with her loved ones by her side.
Born in Brunswick on November 20, 1944, to William and Virgie Morgan Stutts, she lived here her entire life. She married Bobby Sinclair Lane when she was sixteen years old, and ten months later the first of their three children was born. She and Bobby were married 32 years until he passed away in 1992.
“Nannie” loved to cook and made sure everyone was well fed. Family night dinners were held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, a tradition the whole family looked forward to each week. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great- and great-great-grands. She loved to sew and loved flowers. A true science-fiction fan, she loved Star Trek, Stargate, and classic sci-fi movies - and all the kids went to Nannie’s house to watch TV! She also especially enjoyed The Wizard of Oz and collected unicorns.
More than anything, Nannie loved the Lord. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her son Larry Lane, grandsons Richie and Lee Lane, great-grandson Lee “Little Lee” Lane, and siblings Jack and Ellis Stutts, Melba Louden, Estella Lewis, and Ellen Pearson.
She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Lane (Tony) and Sue Hatton (Jimmy) of Brunswick; sisters, Mary Graham of Darien and Marian Boandl of Sterling, PA; grandchildren, Marion Cason (Richard), James Lane, Jr., Bobby Lane (Ashley), Willie Lane (Brooke), Keisha Lane (Shane), Brian Lanier (Hannah), Patricia Remer (Joshua), Emily Hatton, and Dusty Lane (Shelby); twenty-six great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 am and the Funeral Service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Adam Cothran officiating. Burial will be in Littles Cemetery in Brantley County.
Pallbearers will be James Lane, Jr., Willie Lane, Joshua Remer, Brian Lanier, Jesse Morales, and Tyler Lane. Honorary pallbearers will be Nannie’s beloved grandkids, great-grands, and great-great-grands.
Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to assist the Lane family during this difficult time.
