Dorothy Rose Neeld passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Tuesday, July 12, 2016, after a long bout with Alzheimer's. A dedicated wife and mother, she will be extremely missed by those who loved and knew her.
Born December 30, 1925 in Sacramento, California, she was the youngest of 8 children, all of whom precede her in death. She continued to live in Sacramento until the age of 17. It was then, in 1943, during WWII, when a young sailor on leave came to the movie theater where she worked, with a couple of his shipmates, and began flipping the lights on and off in the theater during the movie. Threatening to call the police on them, this young sailor talked her out of it and asked her out. They immediately fell in love and were married the next day. Curtis H. Neeld, now her husband, then shipped out a few days later to sea and the Pacific War, not seeing his new bride for another 18 months during which time his first child was born. They remained married for the next 67 years. It is a love story their children cherish to this day. They returned to Curtis' home state of Florida, where they lived until 1964, when they came to Brunswick and started running Glover Printing Co. for the next 30 years. She loved her life, was dedicated to her work and cherished her family. She led by example and instilled these qualities in all her children, who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis H. Neeld in July 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Hogarth of Brunswick and Lynn Arnold of La Plata, MD; sons, Mason Neeld of Atkinson, GA, Thad Neeld and Hilton Neeld both of Brunswick, GA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
