Obituary

Dyann Michelle Dutra, 57, of St. Mary's, passed away on October 11, 2024.

Dyann M. Dutra was born to JoAnn and Richard Bond on July 30th, 1967. She grew up with her mother and older brother in Martinez, CA, where she made some of her life-long friendships. She found her love of water at a young age and became an avid swimmer during her childhood through her young adult years. She met her future husband Garry as a young girl at the community pool. Spending time there was a beloved summer pastime. Some of her favorite childhood memories were of exploring the neighborhoods within her town with the friends who would become like family through her lifetime.

Dyann was very active in her community as she grew up. She was a cheerleader in high school and graduated proudly from Alhambra High School. Soon after graduation she married her late husband in 1987, and they began their lives together. Later that year they welcomed their daughter into the world. They later had their son in 1993. She had a very successful career in corporate America until her retirement. She and Garry raised their children in both California and Washington State where they made many fond memories.

Dyann was very devoted and active within her church family at First Baptist Church in Martinez. Her great-grandfather helped build the church and her family had been active for generations. She continued to raise her children within that tradition and became a Sunday School teacher there. After settling in Washington State and joining a new church family, she continued her dedication as a Sunday School teacher there for many years.

Dyann and Garry later moved to Georgia to be closer to their daughter and her family and spend their golden years by the beaches. Jekyll Island became a treasured place to the couple. Their favorite pastimes there were looking over the water at the fishing pier and on the benches at the main beach access point; places Dyann would continue to visit after Garry's passing.

She loved to spend time with her family taking trips to St. Augustine, Universal Studios, State & National Parks, exploring and geocaching wherever possible. She loved every beach she could step on and treasured her time exploring what beaches both Georgia and Florida had to offer. She loved spending time with her chihuahua Charity, cuddled up watching Hallmark movies and shows.

Dyann is preceded in death by her husband, Garry Dutra; her mother, JoAnn; her father, Richard; great-uncles, Gary and Scott Clayton; and both sets of her grandparents.

She leaves behind her daughter and son in law, Michelle & Charles, and their daughters, Nevaeh and Ireland; her brother, Michael, and his family; her estranged son, Keith, and his family; as well as many beloved extended/bonus families and friends.

Dyann chose a living celebration of life service on October 9th, 2024, where she could attend and spend that time with those closest to her, taking the opportunity to express her love and focus not on her upcoming passing, but rather on the many happy memories with those she held dear.  In her memory, Dyann asks that you hold your family a little tighter, love a little harder, and take every moment you can to create as many memories as possible with those close to your heart.

In lieu of flowers, Dyann's wishes are that you donate to a local humane society or to an environmental cause that speaks to you.

God Bless to all… she'll "see you on the other side".
