Earl Monroe Odom peacefully went to be with his Lord June 18, 2014 at Southeast Health System, with family and friends gathered near. He was born in Opp, Alabama on August 6, 1950 to Rev. Houston and Mary Clyde Odom. His family moved to Columbus, GA in 1951 to follow the calling of ministry on his father's life. Relocating to several areas in Georgia, Earl made many lifelong friends. After graduating from Jeff Davis High School in Hazelhurst, GA. in 1968 his family moved to Brunswick to pastor Norwich Street Church of God, where Earl met the love of his life Janice Bennett, and made the Golden Isles his home. He attended Brunswick Jr. College where he received a Bachelor's degree. He was employed by Brunswick Port Authority when he was asked to join the team at Brunswick Pulp and Paper. Earl served as storeroom supervisor returning in 2006. Not able to stay at home after retirement, he started a second career. Earl was currently employed by Glynn County School Transportation Department. As anyone would tell you, he loved this part time job and HIS KIDS on Bus #12-138. Earl was a chartered member and Deacon of New Life Sanctuary. He served as a choir member and in several other ministries. He was a faithful servant. He was a die-hard Alabama fan and you were not around him long before you knew it. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Janice Bennett Odom, his daughter Melissa Paige Odom, brother, Elton (Earnestine) Odom; Sister in Laws, Debra Jordan (Shawn), Beverly Grinstead, nephews, John Jordan (Ashley), Joey Jordan (Tyne), Jimmy Odom (Helen), Houston Odom (Becky), Kim Odom (Christy), Adam Grinstead, Matthews and Savannah Sibley., great nephew and great great nieces. Family will receive friends Friday, June 20, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at New Life Sanctuary, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Kirk Brown and Rev. Billy Swain officiating. Interment will be at Brunswick Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Jordan, Joey Jordan, Kim Odom, Jimmy Odom, Houston Odom and Josh Hourdequin. Honorary Pallbearers are Bruce Franklin, Bruce Garrett, Joe Peeples, Wayne Holmes, Dr. Henry Flourny, Vic Morgan, Steve Graham, Craig Beasley, Jack Kennedy, Rick Charlock, Carroll Cox, New Life Sanctuary Choir, Glynn County Schools Transportation Department, Dr. William Grubb, Dr. Emily Feely, Dr. Lana Skelton, Dr. Michael H. Butler, Dr. Herman Levy and Dr. Kevin Fussell.
