J. Edward Peede, 62, lost his long fought battle with cancer on Thursday evening, September 25, 2008 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A native of Wayne County and long time resident of Glynn County, Mr. Peede was a graduate of Wayne County High School and the University of Georgia, of which he attended on a music scholarship, was president of Sigma Nu Fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. Upon graduation, he was employed for 16 years by Armstrong World Industries, a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of interior furnishings. Mr. Peede was responsible for the marketing and sales of a $100 million business through a national sales organization and distribution system. Mr. Peede moved to Brunswick in 1985 and became Chairman and CEO of Interior Products, Inc., an international manufacturer of patented bendable substrates. The company began in a small building off Community Road and moved to a 50,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Glynco Industrial Park. A leader in the community, Mr. Peede was on the College of Coastal Georgia's Foundation for many years, a past member of the Brunswick Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and its executive committee, a past member of the Rotary Club, a member of the Brunswick Glynn County Manufacturing Association and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jesup. An avid sportsman, accomplished wing shooter and sport fisherman, Mr. Peede was a member of Ducks Unlimited, an active participant of the Sea Island Shooting School, Southern Kingfish Association, Two Way Sports Fishing Club, and a charter member of the Altamaha Waterfowl Association. Survivors are his wife, Paula, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and James Sorrells of Littleton, Colorado and Melissa and Chris Hasty of Tifton, his mother Marlene Peede of Jesup, his brother and sister-in-law Louie F. "Butch Peede, Jr. and Merlaine Peede of Parker, Colorado, his grandchildren Walker and Brayden Sorrells, Jake and Hannah Glenn Hasty, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Cooper. He was preceded in death by his father Louie F. Peede, Sr. and brother Larry Peede.
