Elbert Joseph "Joe" Thomas, 93, died on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia. He was born on October 9, 1928, to the late Lawrence and Annie Thomas in Petersburg, Virginia. He moved to Blackshear, Georgia as a young child. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force, before marrying the late Anne Royster Thomas on March 13, 1954, in Nahunta, Georgia. Joe is preceded in death by his siblings, Howard Thomas, and Helen Howard. Survivors include his children, Gary Thomas (Patti) and Melanie Joy Cole; grandchildren, Stacy Sturgis, Ashley Herndon (Mark), Cole Deaver, Tyler Deaver, and Madison Deaver; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Dixon of Blackshear; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend and caretaker, George Deaver. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18th, 202,1 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be on Friday, November 19th, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Brunswick Memorial Park with Reverend Ben Campbell officiating.
