Kenneth Elvis "Billy Boo" Futch, 77, of Brunswick, GA passed away on March 24, 2015 at Hospice of the Golden Isles after a long battle against cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Elvis was born on January 27, 1938 in Glennville, GA to Kenneth Slater Futch and Uida Gertrude "Gertie" Futch. He was raised in Lyons, GA and graduated from Lyons High School before he moved to Brunswick where he resided for over 50 years. He joined the GA Army National Guard early in life and stayed committed to serving proudly for the state and country, as needed, for 23 years before he retired in 1978 as a First Sergeant from Btry A, 1st Bn, 230th FA Georgia Army National Guard. In 1964 his company was among the first to provide rescue/relief during Hurricane Dora. He was an avid hunter and fisherman up until the time his health would no longer allow him to do so. But his stories will live on!! He worked for and retired as a supervisor from the Babcock and Wilcox Company. Among the many accomplishments he achieved during his lifetime, he completed many supervisory courses, in addition to the many other qualifications required during his time in the Guard. After his retirement from B&W in 1982, Elvis worked for a few years with Carl Jones Construction until; he formed "Elvis Futch Construction Company". He worked primarily on Jekyll Island, doing remodeling and home repairs. His name became synonymous with quality, precision and fair pricing. Elvis finally retired completely in 2005 to enjoy his tinkering around the house, visiting his children, brothers, and sisters, canning fruits and vegetables and keeping up with his cats "Missy", "Baby", "Blacky", and "Fuzzy".
Elvis was married to the love of his life Lucy Ann Caron Stacks Futch for 59 years. They shared many wonderful times together and never left each other's side. Elvis is not only survived by Ann Futch but his son's; Dana (Laura), Steve, and Timothy and also his cotton top daughter Melanie (Tony), honorary daughter Caryn, "Grandmother" Lucy Janis and was preceded in death by daughter Angela Denise.
