Obituary Emma Louis Burch Nalley, a child of God, died, August 17, 2008. Daughter of the late Emma James Phelps and Louis Robert Burch, she was born November 2, 1918, in Apex, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lawton Nalley, Captain, USN. Mrs. Nalley is survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Ashton Nalley of Charlottesville, Virginia, and her four children and their spouses: Nancy Nalley Wood and her husband, William T. Wood, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; Thomas Lawton Nalley and his wife, Judy Lanier Nalley, of Atlanta; Beth Nalley Grubb and her husband William G. Grubb M.D., of Sea Island; and Elliot Turner Nalley and his wife, Charlotte Underwood Nalley, of Atlanta. She has ten grandchildren: George Manning Rountree, Burch Rountree Barger, and Thomas Bailey Rountree; Lawton Lanier Nalley; Thomas Garnett Grubb and Emma Elizabeth Grubb; Lawton Underwood Nalley, Ashton Elizabeth Nalley, Morgan Virginia Nalley, and Turner Elliot Nalley; and three great grandchildren: Eli Hoyt Rountree, Rhys Manning Rountree, and James Fredrick Barger, III. Beloved friend and caregiver is Kim Chi Gates of St. Simons Island. Private Family Burial services will be conducted at Culpepper National Cemetery in Culpepper Virginia.
