Obituary

Frank Uhlen Beck, 89, of St. Simons Island, GA, passed on December 2, 2018 in Brunswick, GA. Frank was born November 15, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Frank Herman Beck and the late Henrietta Uhlen Beck. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jane Padgett Beck. His love for Jane was endless and his devotion to her was to be admired and an inspiration. Frank is survived by his son, Frank Padgett Beck (Melissa) and daughter Cynthia Beck Couturier (Justin), five grandchildren, Ben Beck of Atlanta, Torie Beck of Alpharetta, and Alexandra, Hayden, and Holden Couturier, all of St. Simons Island. Frank grew up in Ft. Mitchell, KY. He lost his parents at a young age and supported himself while attending the University of Cincinnati. He attended night school and played basketball for UC. After graduation, he met his beautiful wife and began an adventure overseas with the US Army Intelligence. They were stationed in Frankfurt and Oberammergau, Germany for three years. His work with the CIC was a perfect fit for Frank. Frank and Jane lived in Sandy Springs for 45 years. He was a President/business owner in the computing industry and entrepreneur. Frank and Jane loved to travel together. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip on the Concorde to London and then for a trip on the Orient Express. His travels took him to 50 + countries, with China and Paris being his favorite places. His true passion was bass fishing. He had the time of his life peacock bass fishing with his grandson, Ben, in the Amazon River. He enjoyed fishing in Cuba, Venezuela and in his ponds in north GA. Frank will be remembered for his German way of life, frugal lifestyle, generosity, humor, wisdom, and "suggestions" to family and friends. Frank so loved friends from his poker clubs and dinner club buddies from Sandy Springs. His Marsh's Edge family was very special to him as well.
