Gary Robert Masterton, age 75 went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 28, 2026 after an illness of Parkinson’s Disease. He was residing at At Home Senior Living of Jesup for the last 6 months

Born and raised in Chicago Illinois to the late Robert E Masterton and Ruth Draves Masterton. Gary was an only child.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Nancy Kist Masterton of Brunswick, GA. Two children, Sean Masterton (Robin) of Desplaines, IL and Adam Masterton (Gina) of Plainfield, IL. Two stepchildren, Gary Waite (Heather) of Pittsburgh, PA and Greg Waite of Columbus, OH. His Wife’s step daughter, Faith Gladding (Crane) of Fort Lauderdale, FL. 8 grandchildren Alex Masterton, Haley Masterton, Brayden Masterton, Madalyn Masterton, Erica Waite, Avery Waite, Alexandra Gladding and Stephen Gladding.

He attended Thornton High School, Dolton, IL. After high school, he continued his education at Northern Illinois University, where he earned a BA Business in 1974. He later served as President and Chairman of The American School of Correspondence in Lansing, IL, a role that reflected his deep passion for education. After 42 years of dedicated service, he retired.

Following retirement, Gary and his loving wife settled in the St. Simons/Brunswick area, where he embraced the coastal life. He found joy in the water, the beach, boating, and soaking up the sun. Golf was another of Gary’s great passions—whether he was playing, watching, or serving proudly as a marshal at numerous tournaments.

Gary also had a deep love for dogs, and his loyal companion, Chase, brought him endless happiness. The two could often be found playing in the backyard or at the beach. And no matter where he lived, Gary remained a devoted fan of his beloved Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears.

Gary will be cremated, and his ashes will be laid to rest at sea!
