Gary E. Taylor, 81, of Brunswick died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 21, 1937 in Thomaston, GA to the late Goode and Nellie Phillips Taylor. Gary served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and retired after 20 years of service. His career was primarily spent attached to submarines and aircraft carriers. After the Navy, he spent 30 years in the private sector retiring from the Housing Authority. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Dustin Lee Taylor; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Edwina Taylor; sons, Gary Lee Taylor (Scarlett) and Donald C. Taylor (Mae); grandchildren, Kallee Taylor White (Ernie), DJ Taylor, and Drew Taylor; one great granddaughter, Kamdyn White; a brother, Cliff Taylor (Edith) of NC; a sister, Joyce Ann Akins of SC; a sister in law, Linda Stapleton; and several nieces and nephews. Gary's special granddaughter, Kallee "Sweetheart" held a special place in his heart, and she was honored to care for him in his final days. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Hospice of the Golden Isles. A visitation will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow at Chapel Park Cemetery.
