Gene Errol Johnson, 84, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 17h, 2024, at home under the care of Heartland Hospice. He was born on October 17, 1939, to the late Samuel and Sallie Johnson in Metter, Georgia.

Gene was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and birdwatching. When he wasn't outdoors, Gene enjoyed bowling and tuning in to his favorite sports teams. He worked in construction as a painter.

On January 21, 1961, Gene married the love of his life, Ada Young, and began the family that he loved so dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Sallie Johnson; brothers, Cecil, Russell, Jackie, and William; a son-in-law, Matt Brooks; and his grandson, Billy Dean.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Ada Johnson; children, James Johnson, Rhonda Brooks, Wayne Johnson, and Teresa Cauley; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, with visitation 30 minutes prior.

Interment will occur in Evergreen Cemetery.
