George "David" Carswell, 73, passed away at his home in Brunswick with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, following an extended illness.
David was born in Brunswick, on February 22, 1949, to Charles "C.D." and Annie Pittman Carswell. He attended Glynn Academy before joining the United States Navy. He returned to Brunswick and began his lifelong service in law enforcement when he joined the Brunswick Police Department where he served for 34 years until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked with the U.S. Marshal Service for eight years, then the Glynn County Sheriff's Department. He loved gardening, fishing, and spending time with his wife and family.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Michelle "Bear" Carswell.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cindy Carswell; children, Missy Loper (Billy) of Waverly; David Carswell (Michele) of White Oak; Valerie Barbine (Joseph) of Brunswick; and Christina Cramer (Mike) of Fort Knox, KY; siblings, Mike Carswell (Janet) of Morriston, Diane Cook (Cary) of Austin, TX, and Frances Harris (Vernon) of Brunswick; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends and former colleagues with whom he remained close.
Graveside services will begin at 11 am, Monday, May 2, 2022, at Brunswick Memorial Park with Chaplain Tim Brown (BPD) officiating.
David's family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Antonio Moran and his staff for their dedicated care and friendship, and to Coastal Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society (www.Cancer.org) would be appreciated.
