Obituary

Glenda O'Neal Ward passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Golden Isles on June 21, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Glenda was born March 11, 1954, in Waycross, to Ivy and Doris O'Neal, and moved to Brunswick when she was in grade school.· She retired from The Coastal Bank of Georgia, and, after retirement, worked part-time for several years at the Jekyll Island Guest Information Center. Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Ivy O'Neal; her mother, Doris Gunter O'Neal; and her brother, Charles O'Neal. Glenda is survived by her husband, Ernie Ward; her fur baby, Cocoa; her children, Joe Williamson (Kayce), Christina Farhy (Nolan), Emily Torrick (Jason), and Andrew Ward (Erika); her grandchildren, Bailey Williamson, Griffin Williamson, Emily Ward, Lauren Ward, Thomas Ward, Olivia Torrick, Samuel Torrick, and Eitan Farhy; her sisters, Ann Roberson (C.M.) and Linda Smith (Gene); her brother, Mickey O'Neal; her best friend and cousin, Wanda Crooms; her aunt, Betty Gresham (Damon); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Glenda had a smile that could light up a room, and her laughter was contagious. She embodied the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. To know her was to love her, and she made you feel loved in return. Glenda never met a stranger, and her door was always open to anyone wanting to stop and visit. Glenda's greatest joy in life was being a Mammaw to her eight grandchildren. She loved to make them an ice cream cone when they came to visit, and no one made an ice cream cone quite like Mammaw! She loved them fiercely, and they loved her. Glenda loved camping, her yearly girls' trip with her cousins (L.Y.L.A.S.), cooking, baking, and getting together with family for the holidays. Most importantly, she loved Jesus with her whole heart. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family. She Will be missed terribly by all who knew her_ A celebration of her life will be held at Rhema Community Church, 154 Cornerstone Drive 31523 on July 1, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10 am and the celebration will begin at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
