Greg McCollum, a man of faith and believer in Jesus, his Savior, passed away on September 13, 2021. He loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and his community.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and forever soulmate, Beverly; stepdaughter, Dara Bock (Hayden); father, Garnett McCollum (Susan); mother, Lydia Gail Jansen; brothers, Marc McCollum (Jennifer) and Ben McCollum; sister, Joy Trawick (Chris); grandmother, Katie McCollum; nephews, Joshua, Brad, and Cason Trawick and Blake and Zack McCollum; and many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Naturally athletic, Greg was a proud graduate of Georgia Tech (the legacy of his father), and he was a huge sports fan, especially Georgia Tech football.
Greg was a true Patriot and Veteran of the US Navy. He was extremely loyal and honorable. He loved to help people and chose a medical career on the front lines in ER Medicine, the largest part of which was spent at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, where he was known as a valued and respected colleague. Blessed with a brilliant mind, he was diligent and committed to doing things the right way.
Greg had the heart of a lion! He was a protective, loving, and supportive husband. He was an encourager, generous and giving and he never met a stranger. His love of community and appreciation of life made him a shining light to others. He leaves a legacy of faith, love of family, acts of service and true friendships.

A Family Graveside service will begin at 11:00 am, Friday, September 17, 2021, at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens, 5775 Frederica Rd, St Simons Island, GA. Viewing will begin at 10:30.
A Celebration of Life for Greg, to take place near Greg's hometown of Peachtree City, Georgia will be announced at a later date.
