Harold was born on Nov. 11, 1930, in Wayland, MO. He graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1949. He then enlisted in the USMC and served in the Korean War. After achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, Harold was honorably discharged in 1954. Harold would go on to work on some of the earliest supercomputer systems for companies such as IBM, EMR, and The Burroughs Corporation. In 1960, he settled in Huntsville, AL, where he worked at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center on what would become known as the Apollo project. While in Huntsville, he met his neighbor, the former Mary Lynn Vaughan, before marrying her in 1963. In 1969, Harold moved to Houston, where he later co-founded Oil Data, Inc. After his retirement in 1998, Harold later relocated to St. Simons Island in 2015.
Harold was preceded in death by parents Lurana Beth Parrish & Floy Harold Boone, stepmother Alma French Boone, brother Donald Allen Boone (Sharon), nephew Bradley Boone, and sister-in-law Barbara Manneschmidt (Fred). Surviving in addition to his loving wife are sons Stephen Boone (Kate) and Matthew Boone, sister-in-law Shirley Williams (John), and brother-in-law Ted Vaughan. He also had many other friends and family members who will remember him for his positive outlook and uplifting personality.
