Hilda Adrianna
Quintanar
June 12, 1944 – June 4, 2026
Hilda Quintanar, beloved mother, grandmother, family matriarch, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, on St. Simons Island, Georgia, just days before her 82nd birthday. She was born on June 12, 1944, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.
In the early 1970s, Hilda immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities for her family. She made her home in Aurora, Illinois, where she took on the extraordinary challenge of raising four boys as a single mother. Through unwavering determination, hard work, and countless sacrifices, she instilled in her sons the values of education, responsibility, and service to others. Her strength and perseverance became the foundation upon which her family was built. One of her proudest achievements was seeing all four of her sons graduate from college and go on to lead lives dedicated to serving their communities and helping others. Her unconditional love and steadfast example served as a guiding force throughout their lives.
Hilda worked at McAuley Manor in Aurora for over 30 years. Through her dedication, compassion, and tireless work ethic, she touched the lives of countless residents, coworkers, and friends before retiring after a long and meaningful career.
Above all else, Hilda cherished her family. She was a devoted mother whose greatest pride was watching her children grow and build families of their own. She credits her chancla for her success in keeping her four boys in line.
Hilda was known for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor. She loved a good joke, and the more inappropriate it was, the more likely it was to make her laugh. She had a gift for finding humor in everyday life and never missed an opportunity to tease those she loved. Family gatherings were always brighter, louder, and far more entertaining when Hilda was in the room.
When she wasn't making people laugh, she could often be found dancing. Whether there was an audience or not, Hilda loved Mexican music and was known to turn her kitchen into a dance floor. Many family members have fond memories of seeing her sing along, sway to the music, and dance as if no one was watching—though she never seemed to mind if they were.
Hilda is survived by her sons, Norberto Quintanar and his wife, Gretchen Quintanar (Blake); Rogelio Quintanar and his wife, Tracy Quintanar (Schuster); Sergio Quintanar and his wife, Yvette Quintanar (Yllana); and Aldo Quintanar. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kathryn and Gwendolyn Quintanar, children of Norberto and Gretchen; and Sofia and Benjamin Quintanar, children of Rogelio and Tracy; along with extended family members and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and laughter.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family takes comfort in the memories they shared and the enduring impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. They find peace in imagining her reunited with loved ones, sharing stories, laughing at a joke she probably shouldn't be telling, and dancing to her favorite rancheras.
Hilda will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
