Jack H. Mull, Jr. passed away in his sleep, attended by his family at his home on Oak Grove Island, early in the morning on September 4, 2026, the result of recently diagnosed liver cancer. 

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Jack grew up in Rockmart, Georgia. Following the loss of his mother when he was a young child, Jack was raised by his maternal grandparents, Patrick Henry and Verdi Elsberry. He developed a deep, lifelong bond with his grandfather, who shaped much of the steady, self-sufficient, principled man Jack became. Jack was a member of Masonic Lodge - Rockmart No. 97 and the First Baptist Church of Rockmart.

After high school graduation, Jack served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Serving as a Captain with both the legendary 82nd Airborne Division and the Seventh Special Forces Group, Jack was awarded the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for his bravery and leadership under fire—a chapter of his life he carried with immense humility and pride.

Following his military service, Jack entered Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated in 1972. He built a successful career in investment and wealth management as an Account Executive with Merrill Lynch, Robinson-Humphrey, and PaineWebber, during which he gained credentials as a Certified Financial Planner. When his wife’s banking career presented them the opportunity to relocate to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was happy to embrace a slower-paced lifestyle managing his investments. Eleven years later, they retired to the peaceful coastal community of Oak Grove Island in Brunswick, Georgia.

Jack was a true lifelong learner. He had a brilliant mind with a passion for history, economics, engineering, and politics. In his free time, he loved nothing more than reading or settling in to watch classic movies on TV—especially old Westerns and war stories—or spinning his own imaginative tales as a published fiction author on Amazon.

Above all, Jack loved his family. He shared 54 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Sandra Bramblett Mull. Together, they enjoyed a lifetime of devotion, humor, adventure, partnership, and love. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Dan Horne, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Evan Horne (Katie), Andrew Horne, and Ellen Horne; great-grandson, Oliver; brothers-in-law, Terry Bramblett (Nancy), Rick Bramblett (Diane Young), all of the Atlanta area; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elsberry Mull; his father, Jack H. Mull, Sr.; his beloved grandparents, Patrick Henry and Verdi Elsberry; and his son, Chris Mull.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Blumer for his friendship, kindness, and sensitive support in guiding them through the diagnosis and treatment process.

In keeping with Jack’s love for comfortable conversation, a private, informal gathering will be held at his home in the coming weeks for local friends and family.
