J. Gregory Nicholas "Jake" McHargue, 30, of Brunswick, GA, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at his home. Born April 29, 1991, to Gregory and Victoria McHargue in Bethesda, Maryland, he married Kandace Lariscy McHargue on November 18, 2017, in Brunswick. A graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 2009, Jake earned a bachelor's degree in American Sign Language and a master's in Special Education from Valdosta State University. He was a dedicated member of Sigma Chi Fraternity Lambda Mu Chapter. Jake is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Helen Sue McHargue, and his maternal grandfather, Glenn Souders. Jake is survived by his beautiful wife, Kandace Lariscy McHargue, and their precious son, Easton Hendry McHargue; his loving parents, Greg & Vicki McHargue; sister, Christina Crews (Shawn); nephew, Phoenix Crews; nieces, Paisley, Piper and Palmer Crews; maternal grandmother, Sheila Pedersen; in-laws, Mike & Pam Lariscy; "sisters-in-love," Kellen Lariscy and Karmin Miller (Drew); nephew, Brantley Miller; and one sweet "Mema," Geraldine Peebles. Jake was a faithful member of the Chapel Midtown where he joyfully served as a counselor for the Royal Family Kids Camp for the last three years. He was a passionate educator and a friend to all who knew him. In 2018, he was named Glynn County Special Education Teacher of the Year, which was a reflection on Jake's dedication to his students. Jake lived life to the fullest and loved everyone. He was lovingly known as "Uncle Awesome" and was a dearly loved son-in-law and brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Easton's Education Fund in care of Heritage Christian Academy, 4265 Norwich St Ext., Brunswick, GA 31520. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021, at The Chapel Midtown. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jay Hanson and Rev. Danny Webster officiating. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, at Chapel Park Cemetery, 1180 Cate Road, Brunswick, GA.
