IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James F.
Stafford, Jr.
December 26, 1946 – October 1, 2025
James F. "Jim" Stafford Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Born in Savannah, GA, Jim was one of three children to his beloved parents, Kathleen M. Stafford and James F. Stafford Sr. He often said he was "born with a shamrock in his cradle," and was forever proud of his Irish heritage.
Jim graduated from Savannah High School in 1966 and went on to attend Brunswick Junior College in the Golden Isles. During summers, he worked as a lifeguard on Jekyll Island, where he met Alicia W. Stafford. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, raising three children, welcoming five grandchildren, and later delighting in five great-grandchildren.
A gifted conversationalist, Jim spent the majority of his career in sales, where his warmth, humor, and ability to connect with others served him well. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, and Saturdays often found him reliving every play of the game with family and friends. Jim also took great pride in his Irish roots, serving as an honorary member of the Hibernian Society, the Irish Heritage Society, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen M. Stafford and James F. Stafford Sr. He is survived by his sisters, Kaye S. Culler (Melvin) of Durham, NC, and Amelia S. Sanderlin (Tommy) of Wilmington Island, GA; his wife, Alicia W. Stafford of St. Simons Island, GA; his children, Shannon M. Stafford of Brunswick, GA, Katherine S. Deal (James) of Brunswick, GA, and James F. Stafford III (Genny) of Wilmington Island, GA; five grandchildren, Colleen S. Martin (Mitch) of Brunswick, GA, Nicholas T. Stafford (Michaela) of Jesup, GA, Matthew A. Stafford of Jesup, GA, September R. Deal of Brunswick, GA, and Zackery J. Deal of Brunswick, GA; as well as his pride and joy five great-grandchildren, Clayton, Mason, Maddox, Amelia, and Mackay.
Jim's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty to his family, his friends, his community, and his Irish roots. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family extends a welcome for a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. William's Catholic Church on St. Simons Island, Ga.
