James Edward Sutton, Jr, 70, of Saint Simons Island passed away Sunday at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Macon, Ga., he lived on St. Simons Isl. For 48 years and was an Architect designing many homes on Sea Island, St. Simons Isl and Savannah. He attended Southern Tech and the Ga. Institute of Technology and was a member of The local and National American Institute of Architect's. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1956. He was married to Kay Hardy Sutton for 51 years. Was a member of St. Simons Island United Methodist Church, the Jaycees and a veteran of the Air National Guard. Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 3PM at the St. Simons United Methodist Church with Rev. David Yarborough officiating. Memorial contributions can be sent to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice of Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Kay Hardy Sutton of Brunswick; 2 sons, Chan Smalling Sutton and Franklin Neil Sutton (wife Stephanie) of Brunswick; 3 grandchildren, Chancelor Dustin Gill, Christian Heath Sutton, and Greyson Neil Sutton of Brunswick. He was pre-deceased by a son, Jason Christian Sutton, and by 3 sisters, Elizabeth Burkhalter, Mary Hull, and JoAnn Hanse.
