IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Claudia
Harrington
March 10, 1936 – September 5, 2024
The family of Jean Claudia (Klabel) Harrington with great sorrow regretfully announce her passing. Jean passed quietly at home in Georgia with 3 daughters present.
Jean was born on March 10th, 1936 to Hans and Charlotte Klabel in New Berlin, New York where she met the love of her life James W. Harrington Sr. She has gone to join him and daughter Betsey. Jean became a Nurse in 1956 and married Jim on June 14th, 1958 and joined Jim in seeing the world for the U.S. Army for 33 years.
When they "retired" from the Army they settled in Lusby, Maryland and built their dream home or rather "Log Cabin". While in Lusby, Jean was very active with the American Legion and with SMILE – a food pantry and consignment store started by the local churches. They lived happily there until Jim's passing in 2010, Jean continued living in Lusby until her move in 2019 to Georgia to be near 2 of her children. Jean continued her love of gardening, sewing, reading, canning and candle making no matter where she lived. Jean's passing ended her 5-year battle with cancer.
Jean is survived by four of her children: James W. Harrington JR(Texas); Christine Harrington Oster (California); Linnett Harrington Benson (Georgia); Michelle M. Harrington Tucker (Georgia) and six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Jean will be cremated and inured on 6-14-2025 in Arlington National Cemetery with Jim. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to S.M.I.L.E.(Smile Thrift Shop) P.O. Box 1725 Lusby, MD 20657.
The family would like to thank Janet of Visiting Angels for all her care of Jean and the emotional support we the family needed. Also, the Hospice service for always answering the phone and having the information we needed to get thru this trying time. We, the family, are saddened by her passing but at the same time are grateful she has joined Jim and Betsey peacefully in Heaven and will join the angels watching over her remaining family and friends.
