'But they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.' Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Jennifer Lynn Floyd (Bland) was born on Feb. 21, 1971, at 3:10 on a Sunday afternoon to Jim and Relma Bland, in Baxley, Georgia. She passed away in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 4, due to a brief illness at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Jennifer grew up in a simpler time, a time of riding bicycles until the street lamps came on and playing kitchen in the dirt with metal spoons and old pans. Growing up she loved television shows like the 'Six Million Dollar Man' and 'Wonder Woman.' She was kind, loved to laugh, and was a joy to be around. As a teenager, while working at Piggly Wiggly she met the man that would become the love of her life, Steven Floyd. On Dec. 1, 1989, Steven and Jennifer were joined in holy matrimony at Northside Baptist Church. Thirty-two years of marriage brought forth a daughter, Jessica, who is a teacher for Glynn County School System; two grandchildren, Rainbow Floyd and Kenneth Lee Creekmore the 4th (Meme's little K.C.); and Jennifer's son Justin, who is an Investigator for the Glynn County Police Department, all of whom were her life's greatest joy. Jennifer's whole life revolved around her family and serving the Lord. Jennifer spent years teaching Sunday school and V.B.S. Jennifer worked for years with Glynn County School System in the cafeteria, just so she could be closer to Jessica and Justin while they were in school. Jennifer always wanted every child to know that they mattered and some of her daily goals were to know each child by name and have each child leave with a smile on their face. Jennifer's laughter was contagious, when she came into a room, she always brought joy with her. Jennifer is proceeded in death by her daddy, Jim Bland; and her mother-in-law, Gay Floyd. She leaves behind her husband, Steven Floyd; her daughter, Jessica (Ken); two grandchildren, Rainbow Floyd and Kenneth Lee the 4th (Meme's little K.C.); her son, Justin (Helena). She is also survived by her precious mother, Relma Bland; two loving sisters, Tonia Brown (Michael) of Warner Robins and Vicki Bland of Brunswick; brother-in-law, Brad Floyd (Maryann) of Brunswick; as well as her nieces and nephews, Ashley, Abby, and Anna Brown and Alex Floyd, Cheyanne Crews and Alyssa Dunkin; two great-nephews, Joseph and Christian Brown; and one great-niece, Evie Brown. Jennifer loved her Lord and shared her faith with others. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. Jennifer happily took the role of second mother to many of Jessica and Justin's friends who she loved dearly. Jennifer was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister (best friend), aunt and grandmother. She was a friend to many. Jennifer loved all of her babies. Jennifer's celebration of life will be held at Glyndale Baptist Church on Sept. 12. Visitation with the family will begin at 3 p.m., with the service to follow at 4 p.m. Jennifer spent many hours with her beloved granddaughter Rainbow, packaging shoeboxes for Operation Christmas child. In lieu of flowers, if you feel so led donate to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child or to Glyndale Baptist Church, Together We Grow.
