IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jennifer Pride
Gentile
January 28, 1972 – April 21, 2023
Jennifer Pride Gentile, 51, of Brunswick, passed away on April 21, 2023. Jennifer was a native of St. Simons Island, and attended Glynn Academy.
She is survived by her loving sons Benjamin and Tripp Lee; her mother, Diana Gentile (Dan Cody); her bonus brothers, Matt and Ben Vinyard; and first cousin, Ali (Chris) Paolini; uncles Don Gentile, Larry (Ellen) Smith and aunt, Terri Gload.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her father, James Davis; her sister, Donya Strickland; grandparents, Bennie and Louise Gentile and Lloyd and June Davis; and her aunt, Denese Gentile.
Her sons were the lights of her life and being their mother was her greatest joy. She was very proud of her son Ben for being a smart, friendly young man, and of Tripp for being funny, compassionate and eager to please. She was grateful for how they love to laugh and are polite to every adult they meet.
Jennifer's kind and warm heart shined while advocating for foster children and also teaching those with special needs. She brightened mundane tasks with her quick wit and lighthearted humor. Those who know her well enough to become a true friend knew that her friendship was sincere. These fortunate people also benefited from her resourcefulness; seeing problems as opportunities, turning accidents into artwork, and finding the beautiful flower in a bed of weeds.
Jennifer was faithful to her family and friends. Even when she was busy with motherhood and her own life, she would always take the time to listen and comfort others with words of encouragement, understanding and usually a lighthearted joke. Friends will remember how brave and steadfast Jennifer was, one saying "Even when she felt so bad, she'd pull it together like a Steel Magnolia."
Jennifer loved nature. She found peace floating in any kind of water, from the smallest creek to the open ocean. She enjoyed hunting for shark teeth and driving down a good dirt road. Jen was a big fan of stargazing, discussing astronomy and watching the sunset and the moon rise.
Jennifer loved all God's creatures. As a child, she would rescue hermit and horseshoe crabs on the beaches of St. Simons. As she grew up, she set her sights on caring for other small animals such as ducks, bunnies and her beloved Boxer dogs. Jen, along with her sister and mother, had a fondness and gift for working with equines. Together they raised, trained and rode many horses and even rescued and domesticated a few wild Mustangs. More recently, Jennifer helped a miniature horse named Jazzy find refuge with The Farm Animal Sanctuary on St. Simons Island.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a tax deductible donation in memory of Jennifer Gentile to The Farm at Oatland North, a local animal sanctuary, at 70 Cannons Point Drive, St. Simons Island, GA 31522
