Jerry Francis Popham Jr, 64, of Brunswick, GA, died on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. He was born on March 25, 1959, to Jerry and Doris Mae Popham in Folkston, Georgia. He married Jessie Elizabeth Parker on Saint Simons Island more than forty years ago. He was a devout Christian who was always in the service of others.

A huge sports fan, Jerry had an unmatched love for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves and loved to take people to their first ballgame. He enjoyed coaching the younger people and started his coaching career coaching his son, Christopher, who was his biggest fan. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandaddy and then with his own kids and grandkids.

Jerry was very active in prison and nursing home ministries with his grandson, Elijah (his "partner"), who accompanied him to the nursing home from the age of seven. While visiting his own Granny in the nursing home, he saw a need and made it his mission to visit with and help the residents in any way he could and was a regular, every Thursday (and sometimes several times a week). Jerry would host watermelon parties and Elijah would read to the residents. He brought stacks of magazines to the nursing home and after they were all read, he'd bring some more. Whenever he brought snacks to the residents and they would ask how much it costs, Jerry would simply say, "It's priceless."

Jerry was preceded by his sister, Teri Fosnow; Granny and Grandaddy, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lambert of Brunswick; Grandaddy and Granny, Mr. and Mrs. Audrey Popham of Folkston; and his daddy, Jerry F. Popham, Sr.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Popham; mother, Doris Thomas; son, Christopher Popham; daughter, Scarlett Popham; two grandchildren, Elijah Shelton and Conway Ambrose; nieces, Heidi Marquez, Mattie Coen, and Jaycee Marquez; nephew, Jaxon Marquez; aunts, Barbara Jean Aldridge of Folkston, Debbie Johnson (Gary) of Folkston, Linda Bryant of St. Mary's, and Julie Popham Glover of Valdosta; uncles, Gene Popham, Don Popham, and Andy Popham all of Folkston, Reggie Popham (Pam) of Blackshear, and Bobby Popham (Brenda) also of Folkston; and lots of cousins in various locations.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be in Chapel Park where Jerry will be entombed with Tyler Coen, Worship and Creative Arts Pastor of Covenant Church, in Jesup, officiating.
