Obituary

Jimmy N. Dyer, 62, of Jekyll Island, GA passed away on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, after a short but fierce battle with lung cancer.

Jimmy was born and grew up in Murray County, Georgia, where he lived until 2014. During that time, he was well known for his skill in the carpet industry, his years working as a courier for Federal Express FedEx, and then owning and operating Professional Wellness Therapy with his wife. In 2014, the Lord revealed to the Dyers that it was time to fulfill their lifelong dream of moving to Jekyll Island, GA.

They have owned and operated Beach Life Massage on Jekyll Island since that time, have been so grateful for the loving Island community who made this possible. During that time, along with his many quiet ministries, Jimmy volunteered at Saved by Grace, and helped out as needed at Union City Church in Brunswick, GA, where the Dyers were active members.

Jimmy was first and foremost a man of God. His life radically changed in his early 30s when he accepted Christ and submitted his life to the glory of the Lord. It was his faith that allowed him to be an amazing husband to Laura, a dependable employee, and a good friend to so many. Jimmy was discipled by the leaders and members of Church on the Hill, formerly Evangelical Methodist Church, in Dalton, GA. He enjoyed serving as much as he enjoyed learning, singing in the choir, serving for many years as head usher, helping out with missions, and whatever else was needed. The Dyers have remained close with Pastors Eddie and Beth Taylor, and the Church on the Hill family, and are eternally grateful for their time there.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Dyer and R Marie Dyer of Springplace, GA.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Laura Swehla Dyer of Jekyll Island, GA; his brother and sister-in-law Jeff Dyer (Becky) of Chatsworth, GA; along with his nephews and their families, as well as a large and loving family of in-laws.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jimmy's life at the historic Faith Chapel on Jekyll Island, GA on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at 3:00pm. Laura and the family will receive visitors immediately following the service in the private room above Tribuzio's Grille until 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, Laura requests that donations be made in Jimmy's honor to Taylor Ministries Group and Saved by Grace.

Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to have assisted the Dyer family.
