John Brewster Hill, JC "John Chill" age 18, perished in a tragic private plane accident on August 25 in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, near Cleveland. Born April 1996, John grew up on Saint Simons Island, a barrier island in the southernmost part of coastal Georgia. John attended Glynn County schools through his freshman year at Glynn Academy where he earned a varsity letter for wrestling in 9th grade. Wanting to further challenge himself academically and in athletics; John competed for acceptance at The Hill School, a private preparatory high school in Pottstown, PA. John was not only offered admission for his sophomore year but invited to attend preseason football camp. In a humorous aside, 48 hours after John's first time arrival on campus in Pottstown, knowing no one, the campus was evacuated for Hurricane Irene. 15 years growing up in "Hurricane Alley" and John was evacuated for a hurricane event in Pennsylvania. John's 7 year camper experience opened his horizons to fencing, canoeing, kayaking, paintball, and encouraged his passion for wrestling. John continued after his last camper year as a leader of young boys and men in his role of counselor in training and then junior counselor. John delivered an inspirational talk at daily chapel, the content was remarked by many. John's Hill School life mirrored his Timberlake experience in his growth from boy to man. John was a motivated student and a driven athlete. John's leadership abilities nominated him as a prefect in a freshman dorm. He achieved Varsity letter status in multiple sports. His passion for wrestling was rewarded by recognition in his senior year at both the state and national levels. John was so excited to join the Case Western Reserve University Class '18. He anticipated an undergraduate degree in Bio-Chem; planning to then attend Medical School with an eye to becoming a family physician. John never met a stranger. True champions will work for any goal. Goals define and shape us as people. No matter how important they seem, or how much we want to accomplish them, they don't mean anything if you let them interfere with your future."
